the narrator @ the record bar - 9/12

Filed under: kansas city, music, review, shows — admin @ 3:11 pm

rock n roll is a pretty simple formula ok? here it is:

don’t give a fuck + have a good time = don’t give a fuck + have a good time

pretty simple right?

for a band like chicago’s [the] narrator, this is easily apparent. their most recent album, all that to the wall, is a shambling, beautiful mess. describing this to an online friend, i of course reverted to the easy way of doing things - this band sounds like this band sounds like this band method.

the narrator breaks down like this:

pavement and modest mouse drinking to excess and puking in wilco’s basement.

indeed.

we were half the crowd. me and stephanie. 2 of 4. rock. and. roll.

seriously - i hate bob dylan ok? i looked at a bob dylan album tonight to find “all the tired horses” after the narrator fucking slammed it home as a cover.

this video isn’t from the show, but you get the idea.

sometimes music needs to be enjoyable, and the narrator were beyond enjoyable. this is what god was made for, really.

the narrator

once again, huge thanks to the record bar for taking a chance on a band that kansas city otherwise would absolutely not have the opportunity to see.

the narrator

the narrator - thank you so much, once again, for coming here.
